Note on Accessibility

Universität Hamburg seeks to make its website, lab.min.uni-hamburg.de, fully accessible to people with disabilities. This process is based on the Hamburg act on equal treatment for disabled persons (Hamburgische Barrierefreie Informationstechnik-Verordnung HmbBITVO) and the ordinance on barrier-free information technology (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0).

Status of Compatibility with the Requirements

The accessibility requirements result from paragraph 1 HmbBITVO in conjunction with paragraphs 3 (1) to (4) and paragraph 4 of the Federal BITV, which was issued on the basis of paragraph 11 HmbBGG.

The review of compliance with the requirements is based on an assessment carried out in the period 01.03.2021 – 05.03.2021 in accordance with HmbBITVO / BITV 2.0 / EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1.

Based on the review, the website is partially compliant with the aforementioned requirements due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

Result: The website is already well-designed for all users in many areas. Currently, however, the website is not yet completely BITV-compliant. The requirements are to be taken into account as part of a technical revision of the website.

Non-accessible Content

Our tutorials are embedded on our websites using eLearn.js. Unfortunately, this product is currently only partially accessible to use. As part of the technical revision of eLearn.js, it will be designed to be accessible.

Video and audio files embedded on our websites are currently only partially provided with subtitles, audio description or transcriptions. For newly posted videos, we strive to add subtitles as soon as possible after publication.

Arbitration Procedure

If no satisfactory solution has been found even after your feedback to the above contact, you can turn to the conciliation board according to section 13 a HmbBGG. The conciliation board has the task to support an out-of-court dispute resolution in case of conflicts on the topic of accessibility between people with disabilities and public authorities. The conciliation procedure is free of charge. No legal counsel needs to be involved.

At present, the ombudsman’s office of the Senate Chancellery takes over the activities of the conciliation office, which is yet to be established.
